| It
is estimated that over 70% of people will have a Tax Credit Award Notice detailing
their income for the last year. Therefore you should only have to assess around
27% of applicants. |

there a definition of household income? |
| Household
income assessment takes account of the gross income of those adults who have a
caring responsibility for the children in their household - whether a single person
or a couple – married or unmarried. This approach to means testing is used
across Government and is not unique to EMAs. |

about changes of financial circumstances? |
| The
EMA award stands for the year, unless there is a drastic drop in income. It is
the responsibility of the students to notify the Local Education Authority or
FE college. |
