AnswerIt is estimated that over 70% of people will have a Tax Credit Award Notice detailing their income for the last year. Therefore you should only have to assess around 27% of applicants.

QuestionIs there a definition of household income?
AnswerHousehold income assessment takes account of the gross income of those adults who have a caring responsibility for the children in their household - whether a single person or a couple – married or unmarried. This approach to means testing is used across Government and is not unique to EMAs.

QuestionWhat about changes of financial circumstances?
AnswerThe EMA award stands for the year, unless there is a drastic drop in income. It is the responsibility of the students to notify the Local Education Authority or FE college.
